The Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral Church Awka, was filled to capacity for the Maiden Edition of Bishop’s Carol organized under the auspices of Angelic Voices Foundation in collaboration with Awka Diocesan Catholic Education Commission.
The festival attracted, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, Clergies, laities, students and other stakeholders under Awka Diocesan Catholic Education Commission.
It was a soul warming and highly enriched spiritual event as students from various schools, dressed in different uniforms, sang sonorously, while praise-songs and sound emanating from wooden flute added glamour to the event.
In his speech, Bishop Ezeokafor said the festival of carol and nine lessons is a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Expressing joy over the festival, the Bishop thanked the organizers of the programme and noted that it will create opportunities to harness young talents.
In his speech, the initiator of the programme, Dr George-Franklin Umeh explained that the reason behind the carol is to build a stronger relationship between the Bishop , Catholic students and youths, adding that it also tends to revive the rich traditional Catholic Igbo Christmas songs contained in the Igbo Catholic Hymn book and more.
In a remark, the Education Secretary of Awka Diocese, Reverend Father Hillary Nwajagu, commended the organizers for creating a platform to enhance social integration and spiritual renaissance of the youth.
The event climaxed with musical rendition from Angelic Voices Foundation Awka and carol songs from students.
