The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC has inaugurated a team to monitor products distribution Nationwide.
The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Mr. Ndu Ughammadu, disclosed this in an interview with Abuchi Nwozor of the Anambra Broadcasting Service in Abuja.
According to Mr. Ughammadu, the setting up of the monitoring team is part of efforts by the NNPC to ensure seamless supply and dispensing of Petroleum Products to Nigerians especially this festive season.
He maintained that the Corporation has the larger volume of petrol this year with over fifty day sufficiency, and cautioned the public against panic buying of the product.
Mr. Ughammadu, who disclosed that the NNPC is committed to giving Nigerians quality service through its six hundred and eighteen retail outlets and twenty-two Depots Nationwide, warned Petroleum Marketers against adjusting their dispensing meters, or sell above the approved
petroleum pump price of one hundred and forty-five naira per litre, adding that only the prices of Kerosene and Diesel are being fluctuated because the products have been deregulated.
The NNPC spokesperson, whose office co-ordinates the monitoring team of the Corporation, warned that any marketer of petroleum products caught in any sharp practices will be made to face the full weight of the law.
He advised the public against storing petrol in residential buildings in view of its negative consequences.
Mr. Ughammadu, while wishing Nigerians a merry Christmas on behalf of the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru called for the protection of NNPC facilities, against vandalization.
