The Rotary Clubs in Zone Nine, District 9142, Awka, has marked its Twenty-eighteen Family of Rotary celebration.
The event which was also used to honour individuals and members of the organization who have made their marks in charitable courses, witnessed induction of new members into the group.
The Rotary Clubs under zone nine include Rotary club, Awka Central, Rotary club, Awka Metropolis, Rotary club, Awka – Smithtown and Njikoka Abagana.
The members also used the occasion to refresh their minds on the Rotarian objects and work models including the Four Way Test of the Rotary international.
In his opening remarks, the Assistant Governor, Zone Nine, Rotarian Sebastian Anekwe, said the ceremony was meant to bring every member of the club together, including their children, to have a feel of organizational unity and love, which have remained the hallmark of Rotary International.
Another members, and a former Assistant Governor of the zone, Rotarian Professor AU Nnonyelu, spoke of the membership values of being a Rotarian, and said the Association remains open to individuals from all walks of life
Rotarian Professor Ralph Okigbo, who was honored for donating the sum of nine thousand US dollars in the span of nine years, in charity, and one thousand dollars away from being a grand donor, said the donations, which go to anonymous beneficiaries, have self-fulfilling benefits, and pledged to continue in that path of social call.
The ceremony did not leave the children behind, as there was a dance competition by the members’ children to add flair to the event.
