Investors have been urged to explore the huge untapped resources in the mining sector.

Speakingo to newsmen in Awka on their return from a recent visit to President Mohammadu Buhari in Abuja, the state Chairman of Miners Association of Nigeria, Chief Henry Igboeli, said the federal Government has demonstrated genuine commitment to diversify the economy through effective mining activities.

According to Chief Igbolei, President Buhari during the visit, asked state government to pursue policies that would accelerate growth and development of the sector.

He explained that if well harnessed, the mining sector has the potential for massive employment opportunities to solve the challenge of unemployment and high revenue generation to solve the problem of over dependence on oil revenue.

Chief Igboeli called for proactive measures to check activities of illegal miners as well as fiscal policy to check multiple taxation and other activities of illegal revenue collectors.

He urged Ndi Anambra and Ndigbo in general to be actively involved in the mining activities.
