Cultural proponents, the academia, Captains of Industry among others last Monday converged on the Central school field Amanuke in Awka North local government area for the maiden Ofala festival of the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Alophonsus Chijindu Ezebuilo.

The event was also used to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the community.

Speaking during the event, Igwe Ezebuilo called on the people of Amanuke to work towards sustaining the prevailing peace and unity in the community.

He charged Ndigbo not to allow their rich cultural heritage to wane.

Igwe Ezebuilo who commended Governor Willie Obiano for all his people oriented programmes and policies, especially his effective security network called for its sustenance.

He charged the people of the community to always be law abiding, in addition to respecting the constituted authorities.

In a remark the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mrs Veraqueen Okonkwo, said that the State government is solidly in support of the event and prayed God to give Igwe Ezebuilo more wisdom to lead his people.

In their various speeches, the Traditional Prime Minister of Amanuke Chief Charles Obi, and the President-General of the town, Mr Nnamdi Mmaduka, thanked God for the success of the event charging members of the Community to always be apostles of peace and love.

There were conferment of various Chieftaincy titles to seven different personalities for their numerous contributions to the growth of the community.

Different groups and associations including the Anglican Girls grammar school Onitsha, the Awka South Rural Women Association also came to pay Homage to Igwe Ezebuilo

Traditional rulers of Omasi, Igwe Benjamin Okeji, Igwe Christopher Nnaegbuna of Ebenebe, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo of Nawfia, the traditional Prime Minister of Awka Chief Benjamin Okoye amongst others were also present at the event.

The ten villages that make up Amanuke were represented even as neighbouring towns and villages from far and wide came to witness the event.

Masquerade displays, cultural dances by women and different musical groups added glamour to the event
