The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike has called on Communities in the state to assist the state government in its quest to develop all sectors of the state.

Dr. Akabuike made the appeal at the re-commissioning of the renovated Comprehensive Health Centre Nawgu, Dunukofia Local Government Area.

Dr. Akabuike while commissioning the hospital renovated by Nwokike Family of the Global Action on Mental Health, said that what Nawgu community has done is an act worthy of emulation by all communities in the state and noted that government will energize the hospital with all the necessary human resources as well as equipment to make it function efficiently and effectively.

Dr. Akabuike further urged the people of the community to register into the State Health Insurance Scheme in order to access healthcare services with ease.

On the recent fire outbreak at the mortuary in Enugu-Ukwu General Hospital, the Commissioner revealed that government engaged world best forensic pathologists that have already identified thirty six corpses and assured that the Obiano administration is poised at giving Ndi Anambra best healthcare system.

The Traditional Ruler of the Community, Igwe George Okaa-Onwuogu, explained that the hospital was built in 1984, and appealed to the state government to send a Resident Doctor to the place to encourage patient’s attendance for it to work at its maximum capacity and praised Governor Willie Obiano for his developmental strides in the state.

In their various remarks, the President General of the Community, Engineer Innocent Ifeanyichukwu-Ikechebelu and a U.S based medical practitioner, Dr. Jerome Nwokike, appealed for more assistance and interventions from government to the community, as Nawgu is ready to support the government at all times.

Dr. Akabuike had earlier received medical equipment donated to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka and Iyienu Mission Hospital Ogidi by a Non Governmental Organization on behalf of the State Government.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Medical Equipment, Maintenance and Functionality, Mrs. Oluchi Onyedikachi, was also present at the event.
