The State Police command has arrested one hundred suspected cultists in various parts of the state during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
A statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, disclosed that the operation started from December 20th and ended days after the New Year.
He stated that dangerous weapons such as guns, machetes, axes, cutlasses, live ammunition and other incriminating items were recovered from the suspects upon arrest.
SP Mohammed said the operation was in continuation of their efforts to stem the tide of crime and ensure safety of lives and property in the state.
He noted that out of the one hundred suspects arrested, twenty-seven have confessed to their membership of secret cult and have been charged to court, thirty-seven were screened and released while the remaining thirty-six are undergoing investigation.
