The Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Akabuike, says anyone who hardly falls sick is predisposed to sudden death.

He made the statement during a health forum at Saint Patrick’s cathedral Awka. Dr Akabuike likened the human body to an automobile which requires constant servicing in order to be in good condition.

He stressed the need for regular medical check-ups for everyone whether the person is sick or not, noting that regular medical check-ups will allow doctors to detect diseases at early stage and begin treatment early enough.

The Commissioner revealed that sixty percent of sicknesses that afflict people are preventable if people are given to regular medical check-up which is primary health care.

He called on people to key into Health Insurance Scheme to enable them access quality and affordable health care services.
