The European Union Election Observation Mission to Nigeria has solicited the support of relevant stakeholders and Agencies towards ensuring free, fair and credible election in Nigeria.

The State Leader of the delegation, Mr. Henrik Westerby made the appeal when the team of the European Union Election Observation Mission to Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Chief Uche Nworah in his office at the Station’s Corperate Headquarter in Awka.

The European Union Election Observation Mission will among other things assess and evaluate the electoral process to know if it complies international standards.

Highlighting the Union’s interest in Nigeria regarding the 2019 election, Mr. Westerby said that even though its activities neither legitimize the electoral processes nor validate the election results,
its team would observe and assess the legal framework and its implementation, campaign activities of candidates and political parties.

He maintained that during their stay in Nigeria, the team will monitor elections and submits its observations and recommendations which are usually contained in its report after the elections and will assess Nigeria’s commitment to electoral laws and commended the station for its commitment in sensitizing the citizenry.

A member of the delegation, Mrs. Andrea Staeritz said members of the team are in all parts of the country to interact with all stakeholders and key players in the electoral process in order to achieve a good environment for a transparent 2019 election.

Receiving the team, the ABS Boss, Chief Nworah, assured that the station will continue to support groups and organisations to achieve a free , fair and transparent election in the country and appreciated them for their contributions and efforts in ensuring that the votes of the masses count during elections.
