Voters have been charged to come out and exercise their civic responsibility on the election days and vote with clear conscience devoid of monetary inducement.

They were also asked to guard their votes to ensure that they count at the end of the exercise.

This was the core message of the Elite Corps during their sensitization rally around Awka and environs.

The Elites Community Initiative Corps is a nongovernmental organisation approved by INEC to be part of the 2019 election observers which also help in community development, security and crises prevention.

The sensitization outreach took the Elites Corps to major areas of Awka city, including Nkwo Amaenyi, Eke Awka, Amawbia, UNIZIK Temporary Site and host of other places, with flyers shared to the people.

The Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Bernard Okpara in his message urged the electorate to make their choice of candidates without any form of inducement, guard their votes and report suspicious activities to appropriate security agencies.

Mr. Okpara explained that the essence of the sensitization, is not only to drive through the city distributing flyers but also to properly educate the people and potential voters on the what is expected of them in a democratic society ,urging them to see themselves as owners of the democratic process that will bring about development.

Some respondents who spoke to the ABS during the exercise including Mr. Cyracus Ani and Mr. Jacob Ene, showered praises on the Elites Corps for taking it upon themselves to go all out to inform and educate the people on their expectations during election, especially on the monster of vote buying as all should vote according to their conscience.
