The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced the re-distribution of materials across the State for this Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The exercise which took place at the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Awka was witnessed by party faithful, election observers, security officials, staff of INEC, among other relevant stake holders.
Briefing the stakeholders on the preparedness of the Commission for the election the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji said that the redistribution exercise was to ensure that this Saturday’s general elections is successful.
Dr. Orji allays fear over the integrity of the materials which has been distributed before and assured the stakeholders that all the materials are still intact.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner explained that the inferno that gutted its office recently damaged its smart card readers but revealed that the Commission has received five thousand one hundred and seventy three smart card readers, though they are expecting about
six thousand smart card readers.
The State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sir Ndubuisi Nwobu and the State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Chukwuma Agufugo expressed readiness of their various political parties for the election but expressed worry over the integrity of the materials.
