Teachers have been urged to improve on their Information Technology skills in order to meet up with global teaching standards in this twenty-first century.

The call was made during the fourth Teacher’s Registration Council of Nigerian Induction and Oath taking of the Nwafor Orizu Colelge of Education Nsugbe.

The event which was held at the College Auditorium had in attendance academia from both the school and sister institutions across the state, exposing the inductees to requirements of teaching profession.

In his remarks, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN, Professor Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye represented by the Director Professional Operations TRCN, Mr. Bello Adamu while describing teachers as indispensable tool in human capital development of any nation, charged them to always strive to improve their knowledge on daily bases especially on ICT in order to impact positively on their students in the present world where digital literacy rules.

Professor Ajiboye explained that TRCN was established in 1993 with the key objective of regulating and controlling teaching profession in all level of education system in Nigeria, and to provide template by which teachers can compete favourably with their counterparts world over.

Speaking earlier, the Provost of the Institution, Dr. Ifeyinwa Osegbo disclosed that the eight hundred and thirty-three inducted teachers scaled through out of the initial nine hundred and eighty-eight students that took the TRCN exams, encouraging the inductees to keep to tenets of the teaching profession.

Dr. Osegbo commended Governor Willie Obiano for his administration’s education friendliness, as according to her the college has witnessed a lot of improvement since the inception of his government.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Chairman on the occasion, Lady Chika Osinomumu, appreciated what she called indispensable roles by the TRCN in ensuring that the teaching profession is highly regulated, controlled and classified, encouraging the body not to relent in its efforts towards repositioning the profession for a better society.

In a vote of thanks, the Coordinator of TRCN Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, Dr. Chidi Arubalueze advised the inductees to be good ambassadors of the institution, and wished them well in their fields of endeavour.

The event featured the induction proper and oath taking by the inductees who are eight hundred and thirty-three in number.
