As part of measures to ensure tight security arrangements aimed at entrenching violence-free elections, the newly deployed state Police Commissioner, Mr. Rabiu Ladodo, held a closed-door meeting with Heads of various security agencies in the State on Saturday’s general elections.
The meeting, held at the State Police Headquarters, Amawbia, had in attendance representatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Army, the Department of State Security DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and Nigeria Prisons Service among others, who converged to deliberate on crucial security challenges that could militate against the success of the elections as well as their preparedness for the polls.
Briefing journalists after the joint security closed-door meeting, Mr. Ladodo expressed optimism that the index of minor or major problems have been strategized to ensure the success of the elections, noting that the command had carried out a threat analysis and discovered major flash points such as Nnewi, Ajalli, Onitsha, Obosi, Ogidi, Ihiala, and made adequate deployments to those areas and other prone areas to ensure water-tight security.
He further called on Ndi Anambra to come out en-masse and exercise their franchise as the command is fully prepared to ensure security before, during and after the elections.
He also gave out the numbers to call in the case of any emergency on the election day to include 07039194332, 08060970639 and 08092984498 for immediate response.
It would be recalled that a ‘Peace Accord’ was signed by contestants in the elections as a commitment to peace and spirit of sportsmanship during and after the polls.
