The traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Council Area of Anambra State, Igwe Ralph Obumnaeme Ekpeh has commended Governor Willie Obiano for launching the third phase of twenty million naira Anambra Community-Choose-Your-Project Initiative. 

Under the scheme, each of the one hundred and seventy-nine communities in the state will benefit from the three point-five-eight-billion-naira budgeted for the program, they will receive twenty million naira to be applied to any project of their choice in their communities. 

Igwe Ekpeh said this was a practical way of ensuring that all the communities in Anambra State feel the presence of government in addition to other projects including roads which the government is doing in the various communities. 

He explained the initiative allows Local contractors execute the project that the communities chose using local labour which boost the local economies.

Igwe Ekpeh said that Enugwu-Ukwu community applied the funds of the first and second phases towards modernizing and transforming the town’s civic centre. 

He called on Ndi Anambra to support the government of Chief Willie Obiano so that the peace, security and other democracy dividends, Ndi Anambra currently enjoy will be sustained.

Meanwhile, the President General of Nnokwa Progress Union, Sir Joseph Uchendu has applauded the Anambra state government for being consistent in approval and release of funds for the twenty million naira community choose your project initiative.

Sir Uchendu, who was reacting to the commencement of the third phase of the project scheme, said Nnokwa community built a one storey civic centre in the first phase.

 According to the President General of Nnokwa, the second tranche was used for perimeter fencing around the civic centre, provision of surface water tank and generating set, as well as renovation of Corpers’ Lodge at Community Secondary School, Nnokwa. Sir Uchendu, who is a member of the Executive of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, commended the State Government for its readiness to move on to the third phase of the scheme, expressing optimism that most of the one hundred and seventy nine communities in the state will become greatly transformed after execution of this third phase of the programme.

 He commended Governor Willie Obiano for that paradigm shift in development, which he said has made the entire state one big hub of civilization and development.
