The Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners Mr. Mark Okoye has urged civil servants to promote dedication and efficiency in their work.

Mr. Okoye made the call in Awka during the opening ceremony of a two day workshop on administration practice and procedures for senior officers in core Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDA’s.

The training aims at updating the participants on guidelines and rules of a civil services to improve their performances for efficient service delivery.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Mark Okoye said the training was in line with the directives of Governor Obiano on regular training of civil servants for increased productivity and efficiency in service delivery.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Comrade Leo Imoka, the Commissioner maintained that through the training they will actualize the vision of human capital development, noting that soon experienced officers in Civil Service will proceed to retirement, hence need to mentor and impart the knowledge of administration in the participants. 

The Acting Deputy Director, Administration Department of the Ministry, Mrs. Augustina Obiora said that the objectives of the training included exposing and equipping the participants with sound administrative skills towards the delivery of services to the government and the people.

During a technical session, a Director of Administration in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr Azubike Nkala said many people believed that the civil service is no longer functioning the way it should, which created the need for capacity building in the formulation and implementation of public policies, advising the participants that the work is primarily for service delivery.

Some of the participants, including Mrs. Christy Akabua and Mr. Chibuzor Nwabue unbehalf of others said that the training have exposed them to vital and core knowledge for effectiveness and higher productivity, stating that with the information garnered, they will improve on their various duties.
