Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) yesterday, Saturday, 16th March, 2019 in far away New York, U.S.A received the 2019 Woman of Excellence Award for her work in the area of women empowerment, through the NGO she founded, The Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE).
Mrs Obiano was among top 10 global women honoured at the event by the organisers AGROBIZ, an American based Foundation that promotes opportunities for women participation in agriculture, and improved standard of living for farmers.
Receiving the award, Mrs Obiano thanked the organisers for the honour and said she is encouraged to do more for Anambra women. She praised Governor Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State and other donors that have continued to make it possible for CAFE to build homes for indigent women in Anambra state, build toilet facilities in markets, provide artificial limbs for the disabled, carry out surgeries for children suffering from cleft pallet disorder as well as fund skill acquisition programmes for Anambra women.
Also at the event, Anambra State Commissioner for Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue was honoured with the Breakthrough Award. In her acceptance speech, she dedicated the award to the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and his wife, Chief Dr. Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano for giving her the opportunity to serve, and to all the women and children she represents in the Ministry.
