Anambra state is to host the Southeast Zonal Conference of Radio, Television, Theatre and Acts Workers Union, RATTAWU, in May this year.

The Southeast National Vice President, Comrade Emeka Kalu disclosed this when he led a delegation of the Southeast leadership of RATTAWU to a courtesy call on the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Chief Uche Nworah in his office at Awka.

Disclosing the aim of their visit, Comrade Kalu said that because the history of RATTAWU in the Southeast zone cannot be told without mentioning ABS as the hallmark of the entire Union, they chose ABS as the venue for their meeting to set up local organising committee for the conference.

Giving the theme of the conference as “Media and Culture Sector, the Hallmark of National Integration and Development”, Comrade Kalu said because RATTAWU is one of the largest unions for media and cultural workers in Nigeria, they intend to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Southeast zone at the weeklong event.

On his part, a National Officer of RATTAWU, Comrade Ifeanyi Sunday thanked Governor Willie Obiano for giving ABS a face lift which he said is of international standard as well as Chief Uche Nworah for his open door administration and for the cordial relationship between him and the staff of the establishment.

Responding, Chief Nworah who thanked them for the visit, said that Governor Obiano’s friendly disposition with workers made him to make ABS the most modern digital station in the South-East and intimated them on the activities of the ABS “Film Academy”
