World Health Day is a day set aside by the World Health Organization to draw the attention of the International community to the health global human populations and the diseases that may impact these populations.

The World Health Organization was established on seventh April 1948, that year the organization held its first assembly for its fifty-five member countries, and it was at that assembly that it was determined that the World Health Day will be celebrated annually on the seventh April.

Every year there is a different theme for the event.

In 2010, it was Urbanization and Health, while in 2013 it was Healthy Blood Pressure and in 2016 it was beat diabetes.

The day is normally marked with gallery exhibitions and lectures, as people usually donate time and money to charities which are working hard to educate the people on various diseases as well as their cure.

The Theme for this year’s event is Universal Health Coverage.
