Anambra State Rapid Response Team says it is ever ready to contain outbreak of communicable diseases across the State, emphasizing its doggedness at ensuring that the State will not be taken unawares by any of such outbreaks.
The Director Public Health in the State Ministry of Health, Dr Uchechukwu Onyejimbe stated this during a monthly meeting of the group at the Conference Hall of the Ministry in Awka.
Dr Onyejimbe, said that the Rapid Response Team was established to respond to emergencies like outbreak of Ebola, Lassa fever, Cholera and other related diseases.
He urged members of the Team to feel free to ventilate their feelings and offer ideas that will be of immense benefits to the State.
The Director maintained that the Team will continue to respond to emergencies and exigencies of the time.
The World Health Organization’s Representative in Anambra State, Dr Chukwumuanya Igboegwu, urged the Team to build capacities by reading books on rapid response to emergencies.
Dr Igboegwu also enjoined each of the members to have access to Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response System.
He called for regular meetings of the Team to enable them plan very well before any outbreak.
