Governor Willie Obiano has received an award of excellence for his outstanding performance in the governance of Anambra State from the Anambra state chapter of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria.

The wife of the governor, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano also received award from the Association for using her Caring Family Enhancement initiative Programme (CAFÉ) to touch the lives of less privileged in the society

Presentation of the award to the Governor Obiano and his wife was performed by the state Head of Service Barrister Harry Udu during the 2019 Workers Day Celebration in Awka.

Speaking during the ceremony, the state chairman of the Association Comrade Ifeanyi Okechukwu described the honour as the first of its kind in the history of the May Day celebration in Nigeria.

Comrade Okechukwu who is also the State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, commended the governor for his workers friendly disposition which has endeared him to the state work force .

He extolled the Governor for the ongoing renovation work at the state secretariat complex.

On his part a retired Head of Service in the Local Government System, Dr. Cyprian Afunugo commended the signing of the minimum wage bill into law but appealed for the reflection of the new minimum wage in the take home pay of retirees.

Meanwhile an APGA stakeholder Mr. Anthony Nwakile has urged workers in the state to sustain their unflinching support for Governor Willie Obiano’s administration who he said has demonstrated uncommon interest in their welfare.

Mr. Nwakile noted that the Governor has consistently kept faith with his promise to sustain their welfare while some states owe arrears of salaries to their state worker force.

He expressed delight in the sound delivery track record of the All Progressive Grand Alliance Party which he said needs the support of the entire Igbo race
