Recently, the Social Media was awash with series of blatant falsehood and unpalatable insinuations aimed at tarnishing the reputable image of the Chairman and Managing Director of Tonimas Nigeria Limited, Dr. Anthony Obiagboso Enukeme, OON, the Traditional Prime Minister of Neni and President, Anambra State Council of Traditional Prime Ministers, Ndi Onowu. Such malicious report misinformed the public that Dr. Enukeme was building a Mosque in Anaocha local government area, with a bid to Islamize the state.

No doubt, the statement is the handiwork of mischief makers. Dr. Anthony Enukeme, Onowu Neni, though a detribalized Nigerian, is neither contemplating building a Mosque nor trying to Islamize the state, in view of his revered position in the Roman Catholic Church. He is a beneficiary of the Papal Knight of Saint Gregory the great, the highest knighthood order being conferred on some committed Catholics by Pope himself.

Thus, the purveyors of such fake news and hate speech should desist forthwith or face the wrath of the law. Dr. Enukeme is not planning to build any Mosque as speculated. Rather, Onowu Neni has built many churches, both in his community and outside the community.

He is a grassroots member of Knight of Saint John International and the Grand President of Owerri Grand Commandary of the Knight of Saint John International. Dr Enukeme is equally the Vice Chairman of Awka Catholic Diocesan Pastoral Council, which makes him the second catholic citizen in Awka Diocese after the Bishop.

How then can he be accused of building or even planning to build a Mosque for the Hausa community in the area? The accusation is not only ludicrous, funny and absurd, but also tissue of lies by the enemies of progress, who want to use the social Media to tarnish the good image which Dr. Enukeme built over the years. They equally accused the Tonimas boss of donating land to Hausa community in the area to be used as cemetery, which is also not true.

Social media is a good platform for information dissemination but the problem of the operators of such platform is that they specifically use it to malign prominent individuals. This is not good all. They also employ it to cause confusion and peddle falsehood.

Specifically, Chief Dr. Anthony Obiagboso Enukeme, Onowu Neni, Anya Anaocha, needs to be respected for what he is doing to uplift the living standards of the people across the country. Dr. Enukeme has used his company, TONIMAS, to employ over ten thousand Nigerians. He has also constructed many roads at Neni and has attracted development to the community and beyond.

He has equally been offering scholarships to indigent but brilliant individuals from secondary to University levels, in addition to empowering farmers through cash and equipment for improved yields, as part of his contributions to ensure food security. All these have continued to earn him recognitions and awards, both governments and corporate organizations from far and near.

Are these achievements not enough to appear on the social media to promote Dr. Anthony Enukeme’s philanthropy and humanitarian services, instead of trying to drag his image to the mud? Dr. Anthony Enukeme can never and will not change from Christianity to Islam.

He remains, first and foremost, a devout Catholic and will never deviate from his religion to another faith, even though he accommodates every person in his company, irrespective of religion, creed or ethnic affiliation as an apostle of one Nigeria. Those who dish out falsehood to the public should remember what is contained in the Holy Bible that what you sow, you reap and that the measure one uses for another is the same measure that would be used for him.

The National Assembly should, however, pass a bill making it punishable by law for those who propound such falsehood to go to jail or pay fines of up to one million naira for denting people’s image.

Dr. Anthony Obiagboso Enukeme is respected in Igboland, Nigeria and many parts of the world. Those who peddle falsehood against him should have a rethink and stop carrying dangerous rumours that are inimical to his personality.

Let us give honour to whom honour is due.
