In continuation of the clamp down on illegal revenue collectors in Anambra State, the task force team of the Anambra State Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Industry has apprehended one Mr. Emeka Ezeh who specializes in extracting money from junk-carrier drivers.

The suspected illegal toll collector was nabbed at the Onitsha Bridge Head where they use as their operational base.

Speaking on the arrest, the Anambra State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Doctor Christian Madubuko, regretted the constant cases of illegal levy collectors in Anambra State, but vowed that his Ministry will remain resolute in arresting and prosecuting offenders.

He urged those who patronize the illegal revenue collectors to desist from such and stand by the directive of the government on its ban, as the money only goes into private pockets, and not into government coffers.

In an interview, the suspect who identified himself as Emeka Ezeh confessed to the crime of collecting illegal toll from junk-carriers noting that they account to one Mr. Jekwu Scrab who settles them on daily basis.

Mr. Emeka Ezeh who is an indigene of Ebonyi State disclosed that they collect the sum of Five Thousand, Five Hundred Naira from every truck carrying Scrab adding that the activity goes on twenty four hours of the day.
