The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Afam Mbanefo has approved the restructuring of the Tractors Management Unit for more effective mechanized services to farmers in 2019 farming season.

Mr Mbanefor frowned at the unpleasant reports of poor management and irresponsibility of some tractor operators and field Engineers pointing out that these illegalities have resulted to low production and regular breakdown of tractors during field operations.

The Commissioner said that tractor services are being operated at a loss because of their attitude to work stressing that the new arrangement shall require placing officers at various locations
according to experience gathered in the profession and no longer on seniority basis.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Doctor Emenike Ezinando, said that each tractor will have a log book to monitor the activities of the operators, adding that proper accounting is very necessary in running any business for them to achieve their set goals and objectives.
