The Nigeria Police Machine Football Club has emerged the winner of the long battled Security Challenge Cup after defeating the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Football Club in the final of the tournament.

The Security Challenge Cup was a football tournament organized by the State Government for all security agencies in the state as part of its efforts to creating a bond amongst men of the agencies for better performances in the fight against crime and criminality.

Federal Technical College Awka stadium, venue of the football match was filled to the brim with government functionaries, football fans and men of the security agencies who were present to cheer up their various teams.

The game was as tough as earlier predicted by football fans, as both team proved to be masters of football through various tactical skills employed throughout the game which made it very difficult for them to score each other both in the first and second halves of the game.

Nigeria Police Machine Football Club narrowly defeated the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps with a lone goal during penalty shootout after a long battle.

Speaking to the ABS shortly after the game, the Chairman Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Mr Tony Oli while expressing satisfaction with the successful outcome of the tournament, commended the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by men of the security agencies in the state throughout the game, and encouraged those that lost in the game not to take it to heart, rather to embark on training in preparation for the next edition.

Also speaking, the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Sir Willie Nwokoye who observed that the game has created bond among the security agencies as well as the state government, advised security agencies that could not participate in the first edition, to create a football club and train them for subsequent editions.

In an interview, the coach of the winner of the game, Mr. Daniel Wires while expressing gratitude to God for their victory, thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents in football, saying that they will not lose the cup to any other team as they will continue with trainings for subsequent matches.

For the Team Manager of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Dennis Reuben, his team tried and they were not disappointed by the outcome of the game as they still hope to win in subsequent tournaments.
