The recent fluctuation in power supply in Awka, the Anambra State Capital, has been attributed to minor distortions from the electricity value chain in the state.
The Head of Communications, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in an interview with the ABS on the state of power supply in Awka.
With the recent installation and take off of the ABS injection sub-station, power supply in Awka was promised to move up to eighteen hours per day.
However, while power supply was largely improved after the project was launched, some residents of the Anambra State Capital have complained of power outage in recent days.
Speaking on this development, Mr Ezeh explained that a current hitch at the Awada Transmission unit was one of the factors responsible for the recent power outage in Awka, noting that a single distortion in the electricity supply value chain could lead to poor supply within a particular supply line.
He assured that the EEDC was working on power sustenance in its service areas, but maintained that adequate electricity distribution would only work if power consumers and other stakeholders live up to expectations.
Mr Ezeh therefore called on electricity consumers to reciprocate the company’s drive by promptly paying their electricity bills, and warned those who vandalize power installations, or obtain power illegally to desist forthwith.
He commended Governor Willie Obiano for his endless support in ensuring that power generation and supply in Anambra State is improved and sustained, noting that Electricity supply in Anambra State has improved with the installation of the ABS injection sub-station and upgrading of the Agu-Awka power station.
