The Amansea Development Union, ADU, in Awka North Council Area, has inaugurated a new Executive to pilot the affairs of the community for the next three years.

The event which took place at the Ultra Modern Civic Center of the Town, constructed with the twenty million naira “Community Choose Your Project initiative” of the Obiano led administration, witnessed the presence of Leaders of Thought in the community, including the Ozo group, members of Amansea Palace Cabinet, Amansea Consultative Council, as well as other community members and Opinion Leaders.

The new executive led by Chief Celestine Nweze as the President General, was chosen by members
of Amansea community during an election conducted by the ADU leadership on April twenty-second 2019.

In his handover speech, the outgoing President General of the community, Ozor Gabriel Okonkwo who listed his achievements in education and infrastructural sectors, as well as enthronement of
peace in the community, encouraged his successor to continue the fight for greater Amansea community, with emphasis on education which he described as the live wire for societal development, and assured him of his unflinching support at all times.

In his speech the Parish Priest of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Amansea, Reverend Father Sylvester Dunu advised the incoming PG to use his new position and render selfless services for his people, and to see the welfare of his subjects as paramount aspect of his agenda, praying for God’s wisdom on him to lead the community aright.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Amansea Consultative Council, Chief Mike Ekwunife, who emphasized the importance of peace in the community to record more achievements and effectively harness human potential in the area, thanked the outgoing executive members for their good works, praying for God’s guidance upon them and the in-coming executive.

Some Leaders of Thought in the community, including Chief Chukwuma Anigbogu, Dr. Anerobi Okoye, Chief Festus Agbata, lauded the outgoing PG on good leadership style exhibited throughout his tenure which they noted really favoured the community in all ramifications, calling on the incoming one to emulate him, identifying peace as the major need of the community which they would want him to address first, promising to accord him all necessary support.

Responding, the new President General, Chief Nweze who appreciated the people for electing him, promised never to disappoint the community, but to assiduously work for a better Amansea community where peace, love, and progress will reign, and appealed for their support to enable him and his executive actualize their lofty vision and plans.

The event featured oath taking by the new executive members, official handover of ADU documents to the new PG by the predecessor.

A minute silence was also observed during the event for the Traditional Ruler of the community, Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo who is now on transit.
