Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria will visit Amichi Diocesan School of Nursing for final accreditation in November this year.

The Council will also pay a pre- accreditation visit to the School of Midwifery of the Diocese.

The Bishop of Amichi Diocese Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor disclosed this while delivering his Presidential address at the just concluded Second Session of the Fourth Synod of the Diocese held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew Amichi in Nnewi South Local Government Area.

Bishop Ikeakor stated that after the first accreditation visit, the Council upgraded the Institution to School of Nursing Sciences, comprising school of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health, noting that
work has already commenced at the school of Midwifery to be ready before the accreditation date.

He listed some of the programme and events of the Diocese and their impacts, thanking God for both human and infrastructural development and growth of the Diocese for the past ten years.

Bishop Ikeakor commended Governor Willie Obiano for a successful House of Assembly election and advised the elected members to be more focused when inaugurated.

On the theme of the synod “Rediscovering and Harnessing the Ministry of the laity for holistic evangelism and church growth” Bishop Ikeakor noted that the laity and the clergy are partners in evangelism urging them to recognize the gift of each other for the benefit of the church.

The Archbishop of Ecclesiastical Province of Owerri and Bishop of Ideato Diocese, Most Reverend Caleb Maduoma and that of Enugu Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma commended Bishop Ikeakor for his exploits in the Diocese saying that the theme of the synod is apt for Church growth, while the Bishop Diocese of Niger West Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe noted that Bishop Ikeakor is a treasure and blessing to the Church.

For the member representing Nnewi South Constituency One in the State Assembly Mr Kingsley Iruba, former Commissioner for Information and Culture Chief Majah Umeh and a Synod delegate Sir Uche Igweka commended the synod theme noting that it will create a better relationship between the laity and the clergy for effective evangelism.

Many Archbishops and Bishops, Clergymen, government functionaries among others attended the synod.
