With the inauguration of members of the Ninth Assembly in Abuja, ndi Anambra are airing their views on what they expect from their legislators.

Our Abuja Bureau led by Ekwi Ajide sampled the opinion of the people and reports that some of Ndi Anambra who spoke to the ABS urged Ndi Anambra in the Ninth Assembly justify the people ‘s mandate through quality representation irrespective of party affiliation.

According to the Anglican Bishop of Afikpo, the Right Reverend Paul Udogu, the legislators should remember that power belongs to God and as such, represent the people and not themselves.

The Bishop who hails from Aguleri encouraged them not to be deterred by the issue of ranking and non ranking members of the House in carrying out their responsibilities since they all have equal rights.

He however urged them to study the situation, know the politics of the House and be vocal on matters of national interest.

Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Nteje, Igwe Roland Odegbo, urged the legislators to irrespective of party affiliation, work closely with the government both at the state and national levels for the greater good of the masses.

He urged all South East legislators to see themselves as one, speak with one voice so as to promote and achieve the desires of Ndigbo.
Igwe Odegbo reminded them that they will soar higher if they employ competent personnel to assist them in the discharge of their duties.

In his reaction, the Traditional ruler of Igbariam Igwe, Kelly, expressed optimistism that Ndi Anambra chose their best who know what is expected of them and urged the lawmakers to always follow the rules and regulations of the House to succeed while Lady Joy Amakom on her part, urged the legislators to participate actively and speak for the people.

She identified Onitsha Sea Port, acceleration of construction work on the Second Niger Bridge project , and creation of Free Trade Zones in the South East as some of her desires.

Meanwhile, Senator Ahmed Lawan has emerged the Senate president after polling seventy nine votes out of the one hundred and seven votes to defeat his only rival Senator Ndume who polled twenty votes
