Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila has been elected the Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives for the Ninth Assembly.
Mr. Gbajabiamila, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, secured two hundred and eighty- three votes to defeat his lone opponent, Honourable Mohammed Bago who secured seventy- six votes
Mr. Gbajabiamila who was first elected into the House of Representatives in 2003, was a former House Leader, and Represents Surulele One Constituency at the Green Chambers.
In 2011, Gbajabiamila contested for the third term in the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, now All Progressives Congress, APC.
The election was the climax of activities marking the Inauguration of the Ninth National Assembly that will pilot the legislative processes of Nigeria for the next four years.
