It was a moment of thanksgiving and celebration of God’s faithfulness at a church service to remark the end of the Second Session of the Fourth Synod of the Diocese of Amichi as the people
appreciated God in praises and thanksgiving for a successful synod held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew Amichi, Nnewi south.

The service presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor was attended by a cross section of the society including government functionaries, Bishops, Clergy men, industrialists and others.

Addressing the gathering, the Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano expressed satisfaction at the level of development in the Diocese.

Governor Obiano represented by his Principal Secretary, Chief Willie Nwokoye noted that the state government’s partnership with the church is yielding positive result and called on the church to continue its prayers for the government.

Responding, Bishop Ikeakor thanked Governor Obiano for supporting the work of God and for asphalting the premises of the Diocesan Hospital and School of Nursing as well as his developmental strides in the state.

He urged the Governor to look into the re-surfacing of hoodlum at Upper Iweka and environ to ensure that the huge amount used by the government in sanitizing the area will not be in vain.

Speaking on the theme of the synod, Bishop Ikeakor called for cordial relationship between the Laity and Clergy for holistic evangelism and growth of the church.

Earlier in a sermon, a guest preacher and former Minister of Power, Venerable Chinedu Nebo who noted that both the Laity and the Clergy are one body in Christ, called on the Laity to use their diverse gifts for the benefit of the church.

Also speaking, the Vicar of the hosting church and the Diocesan Media Director, Venerable Chukwuemeka Chukwuebuka and the Chaplain Council of Laity of the Diocese, Reverend Canon Festus Ewenike said the Ministry of the church belongs to the Laity as the church is basically a lay movement, noting that the laity has so many gifts that when put into effective use will result to church growth.

The Transition Committee Chairman Nnewi South Local Government Area, Honourable Chinedu Okoye and a resident of the area, Dr Harry Oranezi noted that Bishop Ikeakor has been a blessing to the church of God and Amichi and its environ.

Others who spoke at the event include Sir Sam-cee Okafor and other delegates. Cutting of synod cake, special rendition by the choir and thanksgiving also featured at the service
