As part of the State Government’s efforts in ensuring effective and sustainable community development, the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, “ANCSDA”, has concluded the second phase of community projects launch for the implementation of Community
Development Projects.

The exercise was carried out at Mgbakwu in Awka North Local Government area where thirty percent of the agreed fund was released for the renovation of a four class room block, which is one of the micro projects chosen by the community.

The General Manager, Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Chudi
Mojekwu who handed over a cheque for over one million naira to the community for the project, while assuring that funding will never be a problem, warned against mismanagement and misappropriation.

Mr. Mojekwu while commending the level of synergy and understanding between the committee and the town union leadership advised that they should maintain such collaboration to ensure that the projects are completed adding that the fund for their second project which is rehabilitation of five hundred meter road with drainage system and culvert will be released once the first project is completed.

In a remark, the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency Operations Manager, Mrs. Uche Nwizugbo said that apart from building the capacity of the community project management committee and their sub-committee members on the implementation process, the Agency in partnership with relevant stakeholders will ensure effective and participatory monitoring and supervision for full implementation of the projects as stated in the community development plan by the committee.

Receiving the cheque, the Mgbakwu Community Project Management Committee chairman, Mr. Ejikeme Mbonu expressed hope that Anambra State will be a better place if other public projects and contracts are being awarded in such a manner that the public will be involved in the process, assuring of effective implementation.

On his part, the President General of Mgbakwu, Chief Nwaeze Okafor, while appreciating the state government said the micro projects will be completed since it’s for the benefit of their community and children who are presently learning under a dilapidated structure adding that they have completed the first and second phases of the twenty million naira community choose your project initiative by Governor Obiano without any problem.

The Woman Leader of the community, Mrs. Chinyere Nwodo assured that the women will assist with provision of food and water for the labourers which according to her will boost their input.

The exercise which attracted major stakeholders featured signing of the contract agreement between the agency and the committee as well as presentation of cheque.
