state Commissioner for Youths and Creative Economy, Mr. Afam Mbanefo has blamed the growing social vices across the country on unemployment.
Mr. Mbanefo stated this during the opening ceremony of a one-day seminar organized by Enugwu-Agidi Youths, at Enugwu-Agidi, Njikoka local government area.
The Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry , Mrs. Louisa Ezeanya, emphasised the need to encourage entrepreneurship among the youths.
He urged the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, and the National Orientation Agency, NOA, to assist in the sensitization aimed at rehabilitating youths and children in the society.
The traditional ruler of Enugwu-Agidi, Igwe Mike Okekeuche said the event was aimed at nurturing the talents of Enugwu-Agidi youths and empowering them to take their minds off crime and criminality.
A resource person and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr. Azeez Anaruwe attributed the rise in the level of social vices to poor family orientation, quest for money and power as well as some politicians, who recruit thugs and provide them with arms for political supremacy over their opponents.
