Following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr
Mohammed Adamu for immediate posting and redeployment of Commissioners
of Police in charge of Anambra and Rivers States respectively, the
Anambra State Police Command, has received its new Police
Commissioner, Mr John Abang.

The event took place at the Police Headquarters at Amawbia in Awka
South Local Government Area.

The new Commissioner of Police, Mr Abang, was formerly of the
Department of Research and Planning, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Addressing Journalists, Mr Abang said  that on assumption of office,
he has been fully briefed on the security status of the State, and
assured that he will sustain and surpass successes recorded by his
predecessors.

He assured that the Command will maintain zero tolerance to crime and
advised cultists, armed robbers and kidnappers to relocate. 

On the issue of fake news which has the capacity to cause widespread
disaffection, chaos, violence or disruption of public peace,  Mr Abang
 warned the purveyors of such to desist forthwith or face the full
wrath of the law.

He expressed dismay over professional misconduct on the part of some
officers and men of the Police, as regards to extortion, unlawful or
over detention and lack of civility  to members of the public and urged the
personnel of the Command to eschew corruption and indiscipline.
