Forty persons have been paraded in Abuja by the Nigeria Police Force
for suspected criminal activities, including kidnapping, armed
robbery, cattle rustling, and murder.

Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, while parading them called
for the strengthening of the law against kidnapping, with stiffer
penalty.

Ekwi Ajide of our Abuja Bureau reports that thirteen of the suspects
were allegedly involved in the kidnapping of the Magaji Daura, Alhaji
Musa Umar, on first of May, 2019.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, lack of uniform
penalty for offences such as kidnapping has been the major force
militating against effective implementation of the law.

He opined that no crime will succeed without local collaboration as
was seen in the Daura case.

He used the occasion to affirm that President Muhammadu Buhari has
mandated for full implementation of the community policing system.

Mr. Mbah called on citizens to be more vigilant in their localities,
know their next door neighbors so as to report suspicious movement and
actions.

He further asked land lords to ascertain the background of their
tenants before giving out their property.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include, nine AK forty-seven
riffles, six assorted weapons, three hundred and eighty-three rounds
of ammunition, cache of chemicals used for producing explosives, three
hand grenades,  video clips on how to make explosives, training
manuals on all kinds of terror and criminal operations all in  a
laptop, among others.

Some of the suspects including Yusuf Ibrahim, Bilal Yusuf, Abdulahi
Mohammed, Sarfillu Abdulahi and Yusuf Dairo, gave account of their
levels of involvement in the crime.

It would be recalled that kidnappers of Magaji Daura demanded thirty
million US dollars as ransom, before the police apprehended them.
