Anambra State Government has commenced a two month intensive career
enhancement course for over sixty-eight typists in the State Civil
Service.

The two month course holding at the Staff Development Center
Government House Awka is aimed at giving typists in the Civil service
the opportunity  to advance beyond  grade level  Zero Nine, which is
currently their terminal rank .

Declaring the training open, the Head of Service, Mr Harry Udu who represented 
 Governor Willie Obiano commended the Governor  for his commitment to improving the
lots of Civil Servants in the State.

The Head of Service  reminded
the trainees of  the  importance of the course for their advancement
in Service and encouraged them to maximize the opportunity in order to
cross their grade level and convert from Chief Secretarial Assistants
to data processors with the accompanying benefits.

In an opening remark, the Director of Training, Office of the Head of
Service, Dr Nwando Obiano, thanked the Governor for approving the
course and urged the participants to remain focused in order to pass
the examinations .

Earlier, The Principal and Acting Director of the Staff Development
Center, Mrs. Nnenna Onuorah, urged the trainees to adhere strictly to
the rules and regulations guiding the Civil Service especially during
the training.

She listed the course outline to include, English, Mathematics,
Financial Regulations, Computer studies, General Civil Service Ethics
and Office Regulations among others.

In an interview, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Public Service,
Reportorial, Secretarial, Data Processors and Allied Workers, Anambra
State Chapter, Comrade Festus Nwoye, described the training as a gift
from a caring Governor.

Some of the participants including Mrs. Chinyere Nwankwo, Mrs. Nnenna
Offordile, Mrs. Chika Okpala and Udeh Angelina described the training
as one in a life time opportunity and prayed God to reward the
Governor abundantly.

The participants were drawn from different Ministries, Departments,
Agencies and various Local Government Areas across the State.
