It was a colourful celebration at Saint Mary’s Major Catholic Church Nnokwa, Idemili South local Government Area as their Parish Priest, Reverend Father Aloysius Ikekwe marks his twenty-five years in priesthood.
The celebration which began with a pontifical high mass presided over by the Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Reverend Dennis Isizoh, was attended by Monsignors, college of Reverend Fathers and Reverend sisters, Knights and other parishioners both at home and in the Diaspora.
The father of day, Dr Obiora Chukwuka and the chairman on the occasion, Chief Ben Amuta viewed silver jubilee as a landmark and commended the celebrant for being consistent in his service to God and humanity.
In an interview, the member representing Idemili South in the state House of Assembly, Barrister Chuka Ezenwune who thanked God for his blessings upon his life since twenty-five years of being a priest prayed that he will continue to grow from strength to strength calling on the parishioners to always support him.
On his part, the President General of Nnokwa Progress Union, Sir Joseph Uchendu described father Ikekwe as a true Apostle of practical ecumenism, a peace loving and unity conscious Reverend Father. In the same vein, the Parish Priest of Saint Michael’s Parish Awkuzu and an Indigene of Nnokwa, Reverend Father Hyginus Nwandu commended him for his input in winning souls for Christ over the years.
Reverend Father Ikekwe as part of his anniversary celebration gave out cash gifts to some indigent parishioners and others who are dedicated to the service of God and humanity as encouragement.
Among those that attended the event is the Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha.
