The wife of Governor of Anambra State, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, has said her NGO; Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE will not hold back in giving succour to the downtrodden in society.
Dr Mrs Obiano stated this at Awka North and Njikoka local government councils, during her visits of the areas, in continuation of her 2019 tour to twenty-one council areas of Anambra State.
According to Dr Mrs Obiano, CAFE programmes are designed to accommodate every person in vast skill areas including computer and phone repair, sewing, confectionery, beauty therapy, hair making and head-tie designs, with each trainee receiving start-up gadgets and cash at the end of the intensive month-long training.
She said it was important for women and youths, especially the unemployed and indigent to enlist into the programmes, and learn a skill that will put food on their tables, stand them on their feet, and pull them out of abject poverty.
The governor’s wife also counseled parents on the import of genotype tests before marriage, and urged them to ensure that their children who intend to enter into marriages undergo tests as their own account towards the elimination of sickle cell anaemia in Anambra State.
The member representing Awka North at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable John Nwokoye, his Njikoka One and Two counterparts, Honourable Timothy Ifedioramma and Honourable Pete Ibida both of whom pledged to enrol one hundred and fifty people into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, said they each owe consolidation to the fruits of CAFE’s generosity.
The member representing Onitsha South two at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, and a former local government chairman of Awka North, Chief Emeka Onwuzuka said the local government tour of Dr Mrs Obiano which has been on for five years straight, shows that the governor’s wife is genuinely troubled by humanities’ difficulties.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Professor Theresa Obiekezie, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Chief Uche Nworah, and a stakeholder in Njikoka, Honourable Jude Akpua, argued that Dr Mrs Obiano has, through her passion for mankind, established herself as a human figure that will never be forgotten by history.
Earlier in their separate addresses, Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government, Mr Ferdinand Onwuje, who donated household materials to support CAFE’s works, and his Njikoka counterpart, Chief George Ozo, who also supported with hairdressing machines, said the governor’s wife has taken her charity beyond politics; a gesture that speaks volumes about her innermost character as a core humanitarian.
The tour to Awka North and Njikoka made it thirteen local government areas toured so far by the governor’s wife. .
As has become the trademark of her visits, Dr Mrs Obiano gave out bags of rice, money and school wares to widows, disabled, aged and children from the sixteen communities that make up the two local government areas.
