The member representing Awka North Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable John Nwokoye has expressed commitment towards reducing the sufferings of his constituents.


The Anambra Lawmaker made this known when he kicked off the 2019 awards of scholarship, distribution of drugs to health facilities and commencement of Skill acquisition programmes for youths in the ten communities of the Constituency.


He said the initiative was chosen after a comprehensive assessment of the immediate needs of the people of the constituency and in fulfillment of his campaign promises to the various communities including Mgbakwu, Isuaniocha, Urum, Amanuke and Achalla while the remaining communities in the area will get their share soon.


Addressing his constituents, Honourable Nwokoye, said that on assumption of office at the State House of Assembly, he developed plans aimed at cushioning the sufferings of the people which gave birth to enrollment of eighty one persons into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, assisting over ten thousand pregnant women, nursing mothers , and children to access free Medicare at community Health Centers in the area, scholarship from secondary school to University level as well as skill acquisition programmes for the youths.


He noted that aside his personal interventions, he will also collaborate with all agencies, groups and corporate bodies to protect and fast track government programmes and projects in the area.


Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health, Kate Edozieh pointed out that through the strategic plans of the Lawmaker, most of the basic amenities lacking in the constituency will now be provided.


Commending the proactive measures initiated by Honourable Nwokoye, the Presidents General of Mgbakwu, Chief Nwaeze Okafor; of Isuaniocha, Mr. Frank Oforbuike, Achalla, Mr. Boniface Chigbo and the APGA Chairman of Awka North, Mr. Uzoma Mbonu, assured that the people will continue to support the present administration and solicited for more attention to the Area.


Some students who came out tops in the just concluded common entrance examination in the various communities including Precious Ossai from Isuaniocha, Chisom Obidiegwu from Mgbakwu and Ebuka Nnaemeka thanked the Lawmaker for what they described as a “life time empowerment,” that will never be forgotten and prayed for God’s continuous blessings on him.
