As more more people are getting adopted into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano has appealed to those with the resources to enroll more indigent persons into the health program.
Dr Mrs Obiano who is also the founder of the NGO; Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, made this known during her visits to Nnewi North and South local council areas.
The visits were in continuation of her 2019 tour to the twenty-one local government areas in Anambra State.
At each of the two local government areas, where Dr Mrs Obiano was welcomed by over five hundred less-privileged persons who are the major beneficiaries of the visits, she spoke of the huge blessings in giving help to the downtrodden, and appealed to the wealthy in Anambra State to pay for the enrolment of poor persons into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme.
The governor’s wife said the gesture was would add all lot more to the consistency of the present administration in giving access to quality and adequate healthcare to every onye Anambra.
She also urged parents not to be too immersed in their jobs and vocations to the detriment of their children’s training, arguing that a child that grows under right parental tutelage will eventually become their parents’ pride.
Speaking at their respective local government areas, the member representing Nnewi North at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Nonso Okafor, his Nnewi South One counterpart, Honourable Sunny Ozobialu, said the dividends of CAFE have added a lot to the socio-economic progress of Anambra because people are becoming more financially independent having been trained and empowered by the scheme.
Honourable Johnbosco Akaegbobi, who is representing Nnewi South two, said despite being a member of another political party, can attest that Dr Mrs Obiano has gone beyond party beliefs in her humanitarian works.
The Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneur and Creative Economy, Mr Afam Mbanefo, and his counterpart for Local Government, Chief Greg Obi, as well as a former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Rita Maduagwu, said the deep involvement of the governor’s wife in matters concerning the poor turns on the appetite in people to give as well.
The Chairperson of Nnewi North local government, Princess Chinelo Orizu, and that of Nnewi South, Mrs Adaora Okoye, who supported CAFE with hair dryers noted that the governor’s wife has solidified her passion in communal development, exhibited through her unrelenting support to the less-privileged, empowerment of youths, support to the disabled, widowed and orphaned, and commended her commitment to the girl child and women through intervention on basic amenities.
An industrialist, Sir Innocent Chukwuma, and an entrepreneur, Mr Akai Egwuonwu who began his Anambra rice farm with a loan from Anambra Small Business Agency, ASBA, said their presence at the event was elicited by accounts of Dr Mrs Obiano’s exploits of charity which have become household recollection across Nigeria, and advised start-ups to tap into the various business support initiatives developed by the Anambra State Government.
As it stands, Nnewi North and South are the fourteenth and fifteenth respective local government areas visited to date by the governor’s wife in a matter of eight days.
