One hundred and twenty persons have received scholarship to study in any higher institution and secondary school of their choice, as the Founder Konigin Des Scholarship Foundation, KFSF, Very Reverend Monsignor Johnbosco Akam marked his 72nd birthday, and eleventh annual Thanksgiving ceremony for the graduate beneficiaries of the foundation.
Ninety persons also received a partial scholarship into higher institution where the Foundation will contribute 150,000 naira per annum to support their studies.
Out of the one hundred and twenty beneficiaries who were selected from across the country after an examination organized by the foundation for them, ninety-six are to enroll into university, nine, senior secondary school, and fifteen, junior secondary school.
Gracia International also renewed the scholarship of her 39 beneficiaries during the event.
In a holy mass to commence the ceremony, the emeritus Catholic Bishop of Ahiara Diocese, Most Reverend Peter Okpaleke pointed out that ungodliness and wickedness adversely affect human life, calling on Christians to learn to do good and show compassion on fellow human so as to live long and healthy as purposed by God for His people.Up Sot
In his remarks, the Chairman on the occasion, Rotarian Felix Akaosa thanked God for the life of the celebrant whom he described as a humble and compassionate fellow, calling on the beneficiaries of his kind gesture and other Christians to borrow a leaf from him.
Also speaking , the benefactor and celebrant, Very Reverend Akam thanked God for keeping him till now, restating the resolve of his foundation to sustaining the scholarship scheme and other selfless services to humanity, and called on this year’s scholarship beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture through hard work and commitment to their studies.
Some families and friends of Very Reverend Akam, including the younger brother, Professor Godwin Akam, Traditional Ruler of Nteje, Igwe Roland Odegbo, Chief Basil Mbadiugha, Reverend Pantalion Umechukwu, and the Vice Chancellor of Tansian University, Professor Eugine Nwadialor thanked God for the celebrant’s life, describing him as a gift and blessing to this generation, as according to them, many lives have been positively transformed through him.
Some of the beneficiaries that spoke to the ABS, including Miss Faustina Anthony from Imo state, Miss Mfonobong Timothy from Akwaibom state, and little Miss Silvia Abraham from Imo state, thanked the benefactor for the opportunity to study at no cost, promising not to disappoint him, and prayed for more of God’s blessings on him.
39 students that graduated this year through the KFSF foundation were also recognized during the event.
