The World Health Organization, WHO, has handed over office equipment
worth millions of naira to Anambra State Government.


The office equipment which is for the Ministry of Health was received
by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala on behalf of
Anambra State Government.


Health Correspondent, Chibuzor Okoye  reports that while receiving the items, Dr. Okpala who thanked the WHO and the  European
Union for their various interventions in Anambra State said that the
health care strengthening project addresses the six basic building
blocks which is service delivery, availability of essential
medications, governance and leadership, health financing, health
information management and human resources,  pointing out that what the
WHO and the European Union have done is to help strengthen the blocks
so that the State will have a functional health care system.


Dr. Okpala revealed that Anambra State has become a shining beacon in
health care financing in Nigeria and made it clear that the Ministry
will ensure that the items which are meant to serve some of the
building blocks, would be judiciously used with proper monitoring.


Earlier, the Anambra State Coordinator, World Health Organization, Dr.
Chukwumuanya Igboekwu explained that the items supplied by the World
Health Organization with Funding from the European Union, is in
furtherance of strengthening the Anambra State health care system.
