Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano has called for the incoperation of Doctors and healthcare workers from the hard-to-access areas of Anambra State into the health response management of the various Primary Health Centers across their areas.

Dr Mrs Obiano was speaking at Ayamelum and Anambra West Local Government Areas, during her tour of the two places in continuation of her visits to the twenty-one Local Government Areas of Anambra.

Ayamelum and Anambra West are both riverine communities bordering Anambra State with Kogi State, Delta and Adani in Enugu State.

The two are also notable food producers in Anambra State with major expertise in cereals, tuber crops and vegetables.

According to the governor’s wife, the proposed healthcare model would not just improve home-based medical response strategy, but would also achieve effective results in the putting out the threats of maternal and child-killer diseases in the areas.

She appealed to traditional rulers and town union leaders from the areas to coordinate the process of identifying health workers who are residents of the communities, and orient them with the proposition and why it is of import to their people.

Dr Mrs Obiano also expressed pleasure that the skill acquisition center established by CAFE at Ifite-Ogwari Ayamelum is fully functional, and said that at the end of their training, the students would be empowered to fend for themselves.

The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, and member representing Ayamelum Constituency, Right Honourable Uchenna Okafor, who hails from Ifite-Ogwari, Anyamelum Council Area, and became the first speaker of the state’s legislature from the area, said the works of Dr Mrs Obiano, aided by the breakthroughs of the present administration of Governor Willie Obiano remains historical because the area has gained spotlight for the first time in the history of the state.

On his part, the Member Representing Anambra West at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Patrick Udoba, who adopted one hundred and seventy of his constituents into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, said he has emulated Dr Mrs Obiano’s charity-driven life, and urged other people who have the resources to reach out the poor in their areas.

The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr Christian Madubuko who donated twenty sewing machines and ten pieces of hair dryer machines to CAFE, his Lands counterpart, Mr Bonaventure Enemali, who adopted one hundred people into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, and the Anambra State Secretary of APGA, Sir Tony Ifeanya, argued that giving to the downtrodden has become an innate character of Dr Mrs Obiano that also moves others to give, and applauded her for being the first Governor’s wife in the history of Anambra State to visit the areas for five years straight.

Earlier in their separate remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ayamelum Council Area, Mr Benjamin Onyeabo, and his Anambra West counterpart, Mr Sylvester Orji, in whose area the governor’s wife built a two-room bungalow for a poor widow at Aroma-Etiti in June this year, picked out the governor’s wife’s love for the poor which is aptly captured in her local government tour of the twenty-one council areas of Anambra State which has been on for five straight years.

The two Local Government Areas have a combined total of eighteen communities and are the twentieth visited so far by Dr Mrs Obiano.
