Youths have been urged to channel their energy and talents for the overall well-being of the State.
The Member representing Nnewi North in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Nonso Okafor made the call in Awka, during this year’s International Youth Day Celebration.
Mr Okafor who described youth as engine of the state urged them to always engage themselves, meaningfully stressing that the youth of Anambra has all it takes to drive the State economy.
In an address the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and creative economy Mr Afam Mbanefo reassured that his Ministry will continue to ensure that the youths are duely engaged with skills and knowledge that will make them become economically independent.
On his part, the Commissioner for information and public enlightenment, Mr C-Don Adinuba who urged the youths to key into empowerment initiatives of Governor Willie Obiano adminitration and advised them to keep away from social vices capable of destroying their future and career.
On his part, the State President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene who commended Governor Obiano for the opportunity given to youths of Anambra State advocated more opportunities especially at the local government levels to help groom them from the grassroot.
In their separate remarks, the State chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria, Mr Samuel Egwuatu and the ASATU Youth wing President, Mr Osita Ozalagba, represented by the ASATU Youth Secretary General, Comrade Onyedika Eweh while honoring Governor Obiano as the Grand Patron of both associations including the Ohaneze Youth Wing, canvassed for the establishment of the Anambra State Youth Development Commission.
A corps member Mr Cornelius Ezugwu who was among those honored by Governor Obiano for their contributions towards the growth of the state during their service year encouraged the young ones to be hardworking.
