No fewer than ten Thousand Teachers are being trained on Information
Communication Technology by the Anambra State Government.
The Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha
disclosed this, when she inspected the various training Centres in
Awka Zone of the State Education Commission. The training will last for three weeks.
Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that while
briefing the ABS on the training which is for both Primary and Post
Primary School teachers, Professor Omenugha noted that the Obiano
administration is committed to training teachers that are ICT
compliant, to compete favourably with their counterparts across the
globe.
Professor Omenugha who noted that Governor Willie Obiano has great
passion for teachers and students, told the ABS that the State
Government is determined to give students of Anambra extraction
qualitative education.
She said that Google will equally train the teachers about Cyber Bullying for them to educate their students on it, pointing out that they will map out strategies to provide every teacher in the State with a laptop on soft loan basis for continuous learning.
The Principal, Saint John of God Secondary School Awka, Lady Anthonia Nwannekie, described the training as a great initiative from the Anambra State government as it has provided an avenue for them to acquire computer education.
For Mrs Evelyn Okpala from Igwebuike Grammar School Awka and Chinwe
Doris-Orjiakor from Community Secondary School Amansea, the ICT
training will help them key into the modern way of teaching and
learning and commended the Anambra State government for the
initiative.
