The Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency will tomorrow commence the disbursement of funds to members of the vulnerable groups from communities across the benefiting local government areas.


The funds are for the Group Development Plans, GDPs as approved by the World Bank under Social Development Project.
Correspondent, Ebele Ezeh reports that about ten vulnerable groups from across the council areas benefiting from the Project, converged on Awka for a two-day training organized by the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency for Group Project Management Committee and Sub-committee members.


Addressing the participants, the General Manager, Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu said the Agency has already disbursed over one hundred and fifty million naira on micro projects scattered across communities in the benefiting council areas.
Mr. Mojekwu explained that they have completed twelve projects with twenty-one ongoing while another twenty-one will commence soon.


While expressing satisfaction with the implementation process, Mr.
Mojekwu urged the participants to listen attentively, to garner enough knowledge for quality implementation, transparency and accountability for good result and impact.


Taking participants on “Gender and Vulnerable issue”, the Operations Manager, Mrs. Augustina Nwizugbo charged them to collaborate with stakeholders while executing the project.


Mr. Nwizugb urged them to ensure that the concern and experience of both men and women are integral dimension of the design, implementation, monitory and evaluation of policies and programmes for mutual benefit.
Speaking on financial Management, the Finance Manager, Mr. Francis Madubuonu charged the GPMC with the responsibility of presenting a financial report to its members detailing the amount of fund received, expenditure incurred, balance of funds as well as supporting documents whenever seventy percent of any tranche is spent.
Later in a vote of thanks, the chairman, Chukwuemeka Vulnerable group Nawgu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Mr. Uche Okafor commended the initiative saying that it will go a long way in saving them from being dependent.
Some of the participants, including Mrs. Rosaline Okoye, chairperson Ngozika Vulnerable Group Umuikwu-Anam, Mrs. Janet Igbobi of Oganiru Widow’s Association Umuzu Ogbaru and Mr. Emmanuel Okafor of Obioma Vulnerable Group Urum, who chose construction of a market, school and skills acquisition center respectively assured to abide by the legal sequence to deliver the best projects.
