Ten nursing mothers from Eziagulu-Otu Aguleri, Anambra East Council Area are to benefit from the Anambra Health Insurance Scheme, free of charge.
The benevolence which came from the National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Chief Alex Onukwue was to improve the health status of women in the locality which is a river-rine area.
Eziagulu-Otu Aguleri is one of the communities across the Omabala River and is often submerged by flood each year.
Chief Okoye said the free health insurance will enhance the health of the Women and boost their living standards.
Addressing Ndi Eziagulu-Otu, during the 2019 Iri ji ceremony of their traditional ruler, Igwe Ikeegbuna ,Chief Alex Onukwue said that the state government instituted the health insurance policy, to take health care closer to people.
He called on people of the area to come home and invest in infrastructure and health care.
The traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Ikegbunem extolled the Governor for his concern towards his subjects and for construction of the bridge and road leading to their area. He stated that as agrarian community, they will increase their farm produce especially, yam.
Another Community leader in the area, Chief Goddy Nnalue who is the chairman, Ndi Anaru Agu, Irunato Eziagulu said that the Governor through their traditional ruler and Chief Alex Onukwue has contributed to the growth and development of their area.
While commending the National President of ASATU, Chief Onukwue, for seeing to the health needs of some women in the community, an APGA woman leader, Mrs Rosaline Chukwuma-Chiozie said that the women are happy with the development.
