The President Urban Drivers Association, Anambra State chapter, Chief Nnamdi Okafor has called on driver in the state to Key into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme Initiative.


Chief Okafor made the call in an event organized by the Union to celebrate the award of excellence presented to him by the Transport and Logistics Centre, Federal Ministry of Transport, Abuja.



Chief Okafor who noted that the health Insurance Scheme initiative introduced by the Anambra State government would improve the health of Ndi Anambra urged all resident doctors to ensure that quality health care system at affordable cost, for a common man.


Expressing delight and readiness to enroll, Chief Okafor commended Governor Obiano for taking the health of Ndi Anambra as a priority, urging all the drivers to utilize the good opportunity to live a healthy life.


While presenting the Transport and Logistics Excellence Award given to him for sustainable leadership in co-ordination of drivers affairs in the state, Chief Okafor appreciated the state government, and the union for the opportunity and support given to him which according to him, was the reason behind his success story and dedicated the award to all the members of the union in the state.


The state Commissioner for Transport, Sir Uchenna Okafor represented by the Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Transport, Mr. Stanley Onunkwor, as well the Anambra North Zonal Commander of the Anambra State Traffic Management Agency, Mr. ThankGod Chukwurah, reassured the drivers that their welfare, freedom and security remain paramount to the government.
They urged them to go by the directives of the state government as regards commercial vehicles in the state which includes branding their buses to Anambra new color.


On his part, the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi who sensitized them on the ample benefits of being registered member, advised them to Key into the initiative to enjoy the benefits


Earlier, the grand patron of the union, Chief Sam Mendu, while congratulating the president on the award urged them to remain law abiding to assist the state in maintaining her status as the safest state in the country.


In their separate remarks, the President Emeritus of the Union, Mr.
Paul Ejiofor and the chairman Enugu-Anambra buses union, Chief Dan Ojii noted that Anambra State has the best road network across the country but stressed the need to speed up maintenance on some roads to ensure sustainability.
