A group of doctors and medical personnel from Belgium have arrived Enugwu-Ukwu general hospital, Njikoka local government area of Anambra state on a two-week medical mission.

During the duration of the mission, the team will provide free medical examination, treatment and surgery from 9am daily.

The team which arrived on Friday, September 6, 2019 went straight to the hospital and started seeing patients who had trooped to the hospital on hearing of their arrival.

Welcoming the team, Chief Clement Nwafor, the deputy traditional Prime Minister of Enugwu-Ukwu thanked the team on behalf of Igwe Ralph Ekpeh, traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu for their sacrifices. He assured that Enugwu-Ukwu community will support their mission and provide necessary assistance where required. He also thanked the Anambra state government and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala for helping to facilitate the visit of the team.

A member of the Committee set up by Igwe Ekpeh to ensure that the mission is successful, Chief Frank Nwokike called on people living in Enugwu -Ukwu, Nawfia, Abagana, Enugwu-Agidi, Agukwu, Nimo and surrounding towns to take advantage of the free medical services, consultation and surgery.

Other members of the committee including Chief Uche Nworah, Bonny Ozo Nkwuaku, Chief Hero Okoye and Nze Chris Ezenwaka were also on hand to welcome the medical team whose mission will last from Friday 6th to Wednesday 18th September, 2019.

The Belgian Medical Mission to Anambra state was facilitated mainly by Igbo Union Gent, Belgium, a non-profit organisation.
