The Anambra State monthly walk for life exercise has grown in numbers, as more participants joined for the eleventh edition of the walk.


This is as the chairman, Anambra state Sports Development Commission, Mr. Tony Oli promised that the walk will be sustained.


The walk which covered nine and a half kilometers started at the corporate headquarters of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Awka, through to Nnamdi Azikiwe University by Ifite Road Awka, and terminated at the Garuba square of the University.


Speaking at the end of the walk, the Chairman Anambra Sports Development Commission, Chief Oli, emphasized that the walk, which is geared towards keeping Ndi Anambra fit will be sustained and the one hundred and twenty kilometers target for the year will be met, including ensuring that other communities cue in to the walk.


The Vice Chancellor of UNIZIK, Professor Charles Esimone and the Secretary to the state government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu noted that it was refreshing to have participated in the eleventh edition of the monthly walk, commending the Sports Development Commission for the noble initiative.


Others who spoke, including Olympic medalist, Mary Onyali-Omagbemi and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. James Eze called on towns and communities in the state to cue in and start their own leisure healthy fitness campaign to remain healthy.


The tune of ogene music, aerobics and fruit breakfast, the now trademark of the walk refreshment to the walk.
