The people of Nawgu in Dunukofia Council Area have passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the community, under Igwe George OkaaOnwuogu, and Caretaker Committee Chairman, Pastor Samuel Ginikanwa.
Stakeholders and people of the town who made this known over the week end, called on groups or persons trying to scuttle the existing peace in the area to desist or have the entire community to contend with.
Nawgu Community has remained peaceful and witnessed human and infrastructural development which perhaps made the stakeholders of the town to come together and condemn in totality what they called acts of sabotage or attempt by few individuals to bring disunity in the area.
The traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Okaa-Onwuogu said that the present administration in the state has demonstrated peace and harmony in all aspects of governance which they keyed into by maintaining oneness and brotherliness in their community, regretting what he called the ugly behavior members of the past town union executive.
Igwe Okaa-Onwuogu alleged that the Former President General of the Community has refused to hand over to the Caretaker Committee constituted by government since June eighteenth this year, adding that his efforts at ensuring that there is accountability and transparency in the affairs of the union appear to be unsettling for those with skeletons in their cupboards.
The Caretaker Committee chairman of Nawgu Development Union, Reverend Samuel Ginikanwa said the state government set up the committee with a mandate to ensure that all misunderstanding surrounding the leadership of the town will be resolved and election conducted in December this year.
He regretted that while the six man committee is working with the traditional ruler to ensure that the community had a peaceful transition, some individuals were bent on creating problems in the community.
Contributing, a cabinet member, Chief Clement Nwobele blamed the immediate past leadership of the town union for attempts at stirring up crisis in Nawgu stating that since Igwe Okaa -Onwuogu mounted the stool, Nawgu has been witnessing peace and development.
In their separate speeches, the coordinator, Nawgu Youths Association, Mr. Willie Meniru and the Chairman of the security neighbourhood watch in the community Mr. Paulinus Uchendu called on government to disregard any call from unrecognized persons whose interest was to distablize the entire community for personal gains.
